ABV: 48%
Casks: Bourbon barrels, quarter casks, Oloroso sherry casks.
Age statement:
Color: Gold
Nose: Strange for a peated whisky, but the citrus hits before the peat smoke. Raisins, demerara sugar, pine needles and grilled meat make up the bulk of the nose, with the signature Laphroaig medicinal sting. 21/25
Taste: Pine needles, vanilla and caramel on top of peat, with a malty undertone of peppered pine sap. 17/25
Finish: Pine sap, sugar and oily peppered peat. 15/25
Style: Nicely balanced, a good blend of flavours. 19/25
Total: Unusal in a peated whisky, the peat itself takes a back seat, and the other flavours get to play. 72/100
Traditional score: 86/100
