ABV: 45%
Casks: Sassicaia wine casks
Age statement:
Color: Amber with a rose tint
Nose: There's an immediate burst of peat smoke, citrus and burnt wood; when it subsides, there's notes of vanilla, grapes, marzipan and cocoa. A nice layered aroma. 17/25
Taste: The peat contributes to the taste of spicy oak, a layer of demerara sugar, with an undertone of gooseberry and rose leaves. Nice, but more was expected based on the nose. 11/25
Finish: Peaty spices, tannins, oak and citrus - lasts for a long time. 13/25
Style: It's nice, it covers a lot of ground in a fairly balanced way. 15/25
Total: Good, but I expected more of the wine casks. 56/100
Traditional score: 78/100
